Wheel Alignment

BUICK & GMC SERVICE • TROY, OHIO

Wheel Alignment That Starts With the Right Diagnosis.

Vehicle pulling? Steering wheel off-center? Uneven tire wear? Our Troy service team can evaluate alignment-related concerns and explain what your Buick, GMC or other vehicle needs.

Let’s Check What Your Vehicle Is Doing.

Tell us when the pulling, crooked steering, or tire wear began. We’ll help plan the appropriate inspection.

RECOGNIZE THE SYMPTOMS

When Should You Have Your Alignment Checked?

These symptoms deserve attention, but they do not prove your alignment is out of specification. Tire pressure, road shape, steering or suspension wear, and tire damage can produce similar concerns.

Your vehicle pulls or drifts

You need repeated steering corrections on a reasonably level road. Check tire inflation and describe whether the pull changes with braking or acceleration.

Steering wheel sits crooked

The steering wheel is noticeably off-center while you travel straight. Mention whether this began after a pothole, curb impact or tire service.

One tire shoulder wears faster

Wear concentrated along an inner or outer edge can indicate an alignment issue, but also warrants examining tire pressure and suspension condition.

Recent pothole or curb impact

A hard impact can affect wheels, tires and steering or suspension parts. Damaged parts must be addressed before alignment adjustments can help.

Safety note: If the vehicle becomes difficult to control or a tire has a bulge, exposed cords, or serious damage, stop safely and arrange help rather than continuing to drive.

ALIGNMENT EXPLAINED

It’s More Than Making the Steering Wheel Straight.

Wheel alignment measures the orientation of your wheels and suspension relative to vehicle specifications. Not every angle is adjustable on every model, and an adjustment cannot correct worn or damaged parts.

Toe

Whether tires point inward or outward when viewed from above. Incorrect toe can scrub tread and contribute to rapid wear.

Camber

The inward or outward wheel tilt viewed from the front. Out-of-spec camber can contribute to shoulder wear.

Caster

The steering-axis tilt viewed from the side. Caster affects steering feel, tracking and the return toward center.

Why vehicle-specific specifications matter: A GMC Sierra, GMC Terrain and Buick Enclave can have different suspension designs and adjustment procedures. The correct inspection depends on the exact vehicle, its equipment, and any modifications.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A Better Alignment Starts With Understanding the Cause.

Describe the concern

We start with what you have noticed, any recent impacts, tire wear and relevant vehicle history.

Check tires and components

Tire condition, pressure, and steering or suspension concerns can affect measurements or indicate that repairs are needed first.

Measure against specifications

Applicable wheel angles are compared with the vehicle’s specifications. Our team can review findings, available adjustments and recommended next steps.

WHY INSPECTION COMES FIRST

An Alignment Cannot Repair Worn Parts.

Loose steering joints, damaged wheels or worn suspension components can affect how a vehicle tracks and how accurately an alignment can be performed. Those concerns may need to be corrected first.

We can discuss the inspection findings, which angles are adjustable on your vehicle, and what repairs or adjustments are appropriate before work is authorized.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT TIRE SERVICE

Alignment, Balancing and Rotation Solve Different Problems.

Treat the symptom, not just the tire. These services may be recommended separately or together depending on inspection findings.

Wheel Alignment

Checks and adjusts applicable suspension angles to specification, when the vehicle design allows.

Wheel Balancing

Corrects uneven weight distribution within a wheel-and-tire assembly, a possible cause of vibration.

Tire Rotation

Moves tires to permitted positions to help manage wear; it does not correct alignment or imbalance.

Ask Questions Before You Authorize Work.

An alignment check and an alignment adjustment are not necessarily the same service. Ask what the evaluation includes and whether any component repair is needed before adjustments.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT FAQS

Wheel Alignment Questions, Answered.

Get practical guidance on alignment symptoms, inspection decisions and planning your service visit.

Does my car need a front-end alignment or a four-wheel alignment?

The correct procedure depends on your vehicle’s suspension design and manufacturer specifications, not simply whether it is front-wheel, rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. A four-wheel measurement can evaluate how the rear wheels relate to the front; actual adjustments depend on which angles the vehicle allows.

How often should wheel alignment be checked?

There is no universal mileage interval for every Buick or GMC. Follow the vehicle manual and consider an evaluation if the vehicle pulls significantly, the steering wheel is off-center or the tires develop unusual wear. A pothole or curb impact is another reason to have the vehicle inspected.

Can a wheel alignment fix steering-wheel vibration?

Not necessarily. Vibration often points toward tire or wheel imbalance, irregular tires, damaged wheels, or other components. Alignment primarily concerns wheel angles and tracking. An inspection helps distinguish the cause before selecting a service.

Will alignment repair unevenly worn tires?

Alignment may help prevent additional alignment-related wear after the issue is corrected, but it cannot restore tread already worn away. Tire condition, inflation and suspension parts also need to be checked. Severely worn or damaged tires may need replacement.

How much does wheel alignment cost in Troy?

Pricing depends on the vehicle, the scope of the check versus the adjustment, and any required repairs. Call our service team at 937-980-0569 for current pricing and to confirm what is included. You can also review current service specials before booking.

Can I get an alignment on my lifted GMC truck?

Lift kits, aftermarket suspension, or oversized tires can affect the alignment procedure and equipment fit. Call 937-980-0569 with your vehicle and modification details before scheduling so our service team can confirm whether we can accommodate it.

What happens if a part is worn or damaged?

An alignment adjustment cannot make a loose or damaged steering or suspension component safe. Our team can explain the inspection findings and discuss recommended repairs before alignment work proceeds.

Do you work on vehicles purchased elsewhere?

Yes. You do not need to have purchased your vehicle from Dave Arbogast Buick GMC. Our team specializes in Buick, GMC, Chevrolet and Cadillac and welcomes nearly all other makes and models within our capabilities.

Do I need a wheel alignment after installing new tires?

Not automatically. New tires do not fix incorrect wheel angles. If your old tires showed uneven shoulder wear, the steering wheel is off-center, or the vehicle pulls, ask for an alignment check before the new tires develop the same wear pattern. Adjustments should be based on measurements and your vehicle’s specifications.

Why does my vehicle still pull after an alignment?

Alignment is only one possible cause of pulling. Unequal tire pressure, tire construction or damage, road crown, dragging brakes, or worn suspension components can also change how a vehicle tracks. Tell the advisor when the pull occurs and whether it changed after service so the cause can be evaluated.

Can a pothole damage more than wheel alignment?

Yes. A hard impact can bend a wheel, damage a tire or affect steering and suspension components. If you notice sudden pulling, new vibration, a crooked steering wheel or a bulge in a tire, have those components inspected. Do not keep driving on a visibly damaged tire or a vehicle that is difficult to control.
