UNDERSTAND THE WARNING SIGNS
What Is Your Tire Trying to Tell You?
A tire can look worn for several different reasons. Recognizing the pattern helps you describe the problem and understand what may need to be checked.
Low tread depth
Shallow tread grooves give water less room to escape and can reduce wet-road traction. Check tread depth across the tire—not only at one spot.
Uneven tread wear
A worn center or shoulder can point to different inflation, alignment or suspension concerns. Identify the wear pattern before replacing a tire.
Cracks, cuts or bulges
Visible damage can affect tire integrity. A sidewall bulge, exposed cord or deep cut warrants prompt professional attention; avoid driving on an obviously compromised tire.
Vibration at certain speeds
Wheel imbalance is one possibility, but a damaged wheel, irregular tire or steering component can also cause a shake. The symptom needs diagnosis.

THREE DIFFERENT SERVICES
Rotation, Balancing or Alignment: Which Do You Need?
These services address different tire and vehicle concerns. The right next step depends on the symptoms, wear pattern and your vehicle’s specifications.
Tire Rotation
Rotation changes tire positions to help distribute wear. The correct pattern depends on your drivetrain, tire direction and whether front and rear sizes match.
Wheel Balancing
Balancing corrects uneven mass in the tire-and-wheel assembly with measured weights. It may address a speed-related vibration, but not every vibration is caused by imbalance.
Wheel Alignment
Alignment measures and adjusts applicable wheel angles to vehicle specifications. Pulling or shoulder wear may indicate the need to check alignment and steering or suspension parts.
BUICK & GMC TIRE GUIDANCE
Your Vehicle’s Tire Specifications Matter.
The correct replacement tire depends on more than tread design. Size, load capacity, speed rating, vehicle equipment and intended use all matter for the way your vehicle drives and carries weight.
Size, load and speed ratings
Start with the vehicle’s approved specifications. A GMC truck used for hauling may require a different load rating than a Buick SUV used for commuting.
Cold tire pressure and TPMS
Use the recommended cold pressure on the vehicle placard—not the maximum printed on the tire. TPMS alerts do not replace checking pressure with a gauge.
AWD and matching tire circumference
Some all-wheel-drive systems require closely matched rolling circumferences. Check the owner’s manual and existing tread wear before replacing only one or two tires.

TIRE SERVICE FAQS
Tire Questions, Answered.
Answers to common questions about tire replacement, maintenance, pressure warnings and vehicle-specific fitment.
How do I know when my tires need replacing?▾
Check tread depth and look for bulges, exposed cord, cracks or other damage. Wear bars becoming flush with the tread indicate the tire has reached its molded wear limit. A tire can also need replacement because of damage or age even when tread remains.
How often should I rotate my tires?▾
Follow your vehicle’s maintenance schedule and tire manufacturer guidance. Rotation patterns and timing can vary with drivetrain, tire size, directional tread and staggered wheel setups.
What is the difference between tire balancing and alignment?▾
Balancing corrects weight differences within a wheel-and-tire assembly; alignment addresses the angles at which wheels meet the road. A vibration and a pull can have different causes, so an inspection is the best starting point.
Why is my steering wheel vibrating after new tires?▾
A balance issue is one possibility, but an improperly seated tire, wheel damage or another vehicle problem can also contribute. Have the vibration checked rather than assuming new tires cannot be involved.
What affects the cost of tire installation?▾
Wheel and tire dimensions, the selected tire and any additional requested service can affect the total. Ask for the specific installation quote for your vehicle and selected tires.
What does the tire-pressure warning light mean?▾
The tire pressure monitoring system may be reporting low pressure or a system problem. Check each tire against the cold inflation specification on the vehicle label, inspect for visible damage and seek service if the warning remains or pressure keeps dropping.
Why do tire prices vary so much?▾
The tire model, approved size, load and speed ratings, wheel dimensions and requested services affect the total. Compare compatible tire choices and current offers rather than relying on a single advertised tire price.
Can I replace just two tires instead of all four?▾
Sometimes, but placement and compatibility matter. For some all-wheel-drive systems, differences in tire circumference can affect drivetrain operation. The correct choice depends on your owner’s manual, tire condition and vehicle specifications.
