Oil Change
Your Buick or GMC Deserves Expert Oil Change Service.
Choose the team that knows GM vehicles. At Dave Arbogast Buick GMC in Troy, our trained service professionals understand the maintenance needs of your vehicle—and welcome most other makes, too.
Walk in or plan ahead.
Oil-change walk-ins are welcome. Visits typically take less than an hour, although wait times and additional work can change that.
The Right Oil Change Starts With Knowing Your Vehicle.
Your engine has specific requirements. Our GM-focused service team helps select oil and filter options that meet the applicable specifications for your model and engine—not a generic package for every vehicle. We specialize in Buick, GMC, Chevrolet and Cadillac, and service nearly all other makes and models within our capabilities.

Correct oil specification
Your engine may require a particular viscosity and manufacturer approval. We check the applicable vehicle requirements instead of assuming every engine uses the same oil.

Oil and filter service
Oil and filter selection should match your vehicle. Ask your service advisor about any additional checks or maintenance you want performed.

Clear maintenance guidance
Understand your oil-life reminder, the next recommended service, and when a dashboard warning needs more immediate attention.

What goes into the right oil change?
The main job is straightforward: remove used engine oil, install a compatible oil filter, and refill with oil meeting the engine’s requirements. The exact oil type and capacity depend on your vehicle.
If your vehicle has an oil-life monitor, ask about resetting it after service. If you have a separate concern—such as an oil leak, unusual noise, or warning light—mention it when you arrive so it can be evaluated rather than assumed to be solved by routine maintenance.

Your GM Oil Life System, Explained by a Team That Knows GM.
Your Buick or GMC may use an Oil Life System to estimate when service is due based on driving conditions. At Dave Arbogast Buick GMC, our team understands how to interpret that reminder alongside the maintenance requirements for your specific model, engine and year. The system does not measure engine oil level.
Oil-life percentage
A low remaining oil-life percentage is a maintenance reminder. Follow the instructions for your specific model and year; there is no universal oil-change mileage for every vehicle.
A warning that needs attention
A low oil-pressure or stop-engine warning is different from an oil-life reminder. Follow your owner’s manual immediately, including any instruction to stop the engine. An ordinary oil change may not address the cause.
Your model matters
Oil requirements can differ among Sierra, Terrain, Yukon, Enclave, and other models—and between engines or model years. Use your vehicle’s manual for the applicable specifications.
Check official Buick owner’s manuals and GMC owner’s manuals for your exact vehicle.
Which oil does your vehicle actually need?
The answer depends on your model, model year, engine and manufacturer requirements—not just whether the bottle says “synthetic.” Our service team checks the recommended viscosity and applicable oil performance specification for your vehicle before selecting the oil.
What does 0W-20 mean?
Numbers such as 0W-20 or 5W-30 describe how oil flows at different temperatures. They are examples, not interchangeable recommendations. Your engine calls for a specific grade.
What about dexos?
Some GM engines require oil meeting a particular dexos specification. An oil being full synthetic does not automatically mean it carries the approval your engine needs.
Gas or diesel?
Gasoline and diesel engines may have different oil requirements. Even vehicles with the same nameplate can call for different oils depending on their engine and year.
Conventional, synthetic blend or full synthetic?
Those terms describe how oil is formulated. They do not replace the manufacturer’s required grade and approvals. Conventional or blended oils are suitable only where permitted; many newer engines specify full synthetic oil that meets particular standards. We’ll explain what your vehicle requires and why.
For vehicle-specific guidance, see the Buick owner’s manuals or GMC owner’s manuals.
No One Knows Your GM Vehicle Like a GM-Focused Service Team.
An oil change is more than draining old oil. The right service starts with knowing your engine’s specified oil, filter requirements and maintenance guidance. At Dave Arbogast Buick GMC, our service team includes ASE-certified technicians and GM World Class Technicians. That depth of training helps us provide informed maintenance for Buick and GMC vehicles, with Chevrolet and Cadillac expertise as well. We also welcome nearly all other makes and models within our capabilities—even if you bought your vehicle elsewhere.
Training that matters under the hood
GM-focused technical knowledge helps our team work from your vehicle’s actual requirements rather than a one-size-fits-all oil-change recommendation. Our technicians can help you understand the appropriate oil specification and maintenance reminder for your vehicle.
Confidence beyond the oil change
If you have questions about a warning light, oil consumption or a maintenance recommendation, talk with a team that understands GM service information. We explain what we know and help you decide on an appropriate next step—without assuming every concern is solved by an oil change.
